Shoulder Pain Takes More Than Movement — It Takes Your Independence

It's not just a stiff shoulder. It changes how you live every single day.

You can't reach behind your back — fastening a bra, tucking in a shirt, reaching your wallet

Getting dressed takes twice as long — pulling a jumper over your head is agony

You haven't slept on that side in months — the pain wakes you every night

You've stopped swimming, playing tennis, or going to the gym

Driving is painful — reaching for the seatbelt, changing gear, checking mirrors

You can't lift your arm to wash your hair or reach a kitchen shelf

You've pulled out of golf, badminton, or racquet sports because you can't swing

Carrying shopping bags, picking up grandchildren, hanging washing — all gone

Every week you wait, the shoulder stiffens further.

The muscles around it waste. Compensation patterns develop. Early treatment means faster recovery.

    Shoulder Conditions We Treat

Whether it's frozen shoulder, a rotator cuff tear, or impingement — we identify exactly what's wrong and build a treatment plan to fix it.

    Frozen Shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis)

Progressive stiffness and pain that limits all movement. We identify the stage and accelerate your recovery — don't wait 2 years hoping it resolves.

    Rotator Cuff Injury

Tears or strains to the tendons that stabilise your shoulder. Common in overhead sports, repetitive work, and after 40. We restore strength and function.

    Shoulder Impingement

Pain when lifting your arm — caused by tendons being compressed between bones. Worsens without treatment and often leads to rotator cuff damage.

    AC Joint Injury

Pain at the top of the shoulder, often from falls or contact sport. Affects pushing movements, sleeping on your side, and bench pressing.

    Shoulder Instability / Dislocation

Repeated subluxation or dislocation — needs structured rehabilitation to prevent recurrence and restore confidence in your shoulder.

    Calcific Tendinitis

Calcium deposits in the rotator cuff causing sudden, severe pain — can be resolved without surgery with the right treatment approach.

    Our approach

We Don't Wait — We Restore Movement Systematically

    1

    Identify the exact problem

We assess every structure — rotator cuff, capsule, AC joint, labrum, and movement patterns — to diagnose precisely what's causing your pain and restriction.

    2

    Targeted manual therapy

Hands-on treatment to break down adhesions, restore capsular movement, and reduce the inflammatory response that's tightening the joint.

    3

    Progressive loading and strengthening

Structured exercises that rebuild shoulder strength and range — pushing hard enough to make gains, controlled enough to avoid flare-ups.

    4

    Full function restoration

We don't stop at 'better.' We get you back to overhead pressing, swimming, tennis serves, and reaching without a second thought.

"I couldn't reach behind my back for 8 months. My GP said it would 'resolve on its own.' After 6 weeks at BodyCare, I was back in the pool swimming front crawl. I wish I'd gone sooner — those 8 months of waiting were wasted."

    Shoulder Pain FAQs

How long does frozen shoulder last without treatment?

Untreated, frozen shoulder can persist for 18 months to 3 years. Many people are told to 'wait it out,' but during that time the shoulder stiffens further, muscles waste, and compensatory problems develop in the neck, upper back, and opposite shoulder. Early intervention significantly shortens the timeline.

Can you treat frozen shoulder without surgery?

Yes. The majority of frozen shoulder cases respond well to structured manual therapy, targeted mobilisation, and progressive rehabilitation. We identify which phase you're in — freezing, frozen, or thawing — and tailor treatment to accelerate recovery at each stage.

What's the difference between a rotator cuff tear and frozen shoulder?

A rotator cuff tear typically causes weakness and pain with specific movements, especially lifting and rotating the arm. Frozen shoulder restricts all movement — the joint itself becomes stiff. Both conditions stop you living normally, but they require completely different treatment approaches. We diagnose which one you have in your first assessment.

Why does my shoulder hurt at night?

Night pain is one of the most common complaints with shoulder problems. Lying down increases pressure on inflamed tendons and the joint capsule. Whether it's a rotator cuff problem, frozen shoulder, or impingement — if your shoulder wakes you up, it needs treating. It won't settle on its own.

Will I get full movement back?

Most patients regain full or near-full range of movement with the right treatment. The key is structured progression — pushing hard enough to restore movement without inflaming the joint further. That balance is what we specialise in.
